Nia - Dance/Martial Arts/Mind-Body Fitness with Jeanna Wheeler
Saturdays: 1015-1130am *No class on 10/2
Nia is a cardiovascular workout that uses whole-body, expressive, grounded movement, rather than repetitive jumping or lifting. Nia was the first form of fusion fitness, and encompasses movement forms from the martial arts (tai chi, aikido, & tae kwon do); dance (modern, jazz, & Duncan dance); and the healing arts (yoga, Feldenkrais, & Alexander technique). Nia is a fitness method that replaces the idea of punishment with pleasure. This completely unique program tones and trims the body through pleasurable movement, and is adaptable to every level of fitness, every age group, and every type of body. Jeanna has over six years of experience guiding group fitness classes in a variety of formats. She has three years of experience teaching the Nia technique, including two years of training in Portland, OR with Carlos and Debbie Rosas, the creators of Nia. She has a group fitness instructor certification from the American Council on Exercise and a Blue Belt level certification in Nia. More info from: NiaNow.com or email Jeanna
